I coached high school for chunk of years. I never had more complaints than I did when I had girls that floated between varsity and JV. JV players complained that varsity girls bumped down and played in front of them. Varsity girls getting bumped down complained that they were on varsity and it was insulting for them to bump down and get reps, even though they weren’t getting consistent reps on varsity. And I only had 15 girls. I just didn’t want girls to go too long in between ABs. I started to just have select JV players practice with varsity and play with JV. It reduced complaints. Everyone thinks their kid is great. One thing I learned early as a coach is that someone will always be unhappy. But there were things I could do to minimize the meetings I had to have with the AD and angry parents.
