For some time now he had been apart from his beloved and their children, he was tired of the constant separating of him from his loved ones. First, him and Onai were ripped apart and their children too. Now it seemed he was destined for darkness, finding himself lost in a cave he had fallen into whilst hunting near the mountains. His mind was constantly abuzz, finding little rest for him anywhere as he wandered aimlessly. Every sound echoed around him, until finally he could hear the rushing sound of wind - An opening.
His black stockings began to push him onward faster as he found the opening in a ceiling like formation. His jack-o-lanterns widened, pushing and jumping upward as his strong limbs pulled up and allowed him out of the cave and into the beautiful light of day. A gasp of fresh air, though cold, met his lungs. It burned - Winter was here. Had it really been that long? Where was Onai, where was Typhon, Esmae, and Orson? By now . . . They'd be adults, likely wondering the same that Hecate and Cato surely wondered at their age - Where was their father?
With the cold wind blowing from below, he was able to pick up on the scent of many things. This time he'd have to be careful of where he had stepped. He'd fallen into many things before, but never once had he feared such a grim fate for himself than that. His nares picked up on an intermingled familiar scent, that of his beloved. His head quickly turned, but he couldn't see her. He began running, the only thing keeping him from withering away for months was eating bats and rats, thankfully there was water but it was thick and soup-like. Slimy. Yet it gave him the energy to escape his demise, to run and find his way back to Onai once again.
The skeleton man carefully yet swiftly made his way down the bluffs, Onais scent grew stronger. His tail began wagging as he found himself running faster and faster, finally making it onto flat ground. He began to slow, entering a packs territory. Onai was here? His jack-o-lanterns flicked around as he followed his nose, finding himself standing at the treeline of a clearing ahead. "I'm Onai. It's very nice to meet you two. I would love to offer my services to the both of you. I may not be a fighter, but I am an excellent caretaker. I'm a mother of several, two of which are presumed to be in the pack of Sindri, which may make forming an alliance somewhat easier. As for my other three, I'm unsure. I believe two might be headed to Hawthorne. My love, Jack Skellington, might be joining here as well. But as I said, I can do whatever you'll need me to do."
He felt guilt, how had he let her be alone again? His lips moved into a visible frown, he promised he'd never let them come apart again. That was what kept him going for so long. With a deep breath, the skeleton man walked out towards her from behind, his cranium dipped into a bow before he sat beside his beloved. "I'm Jack, pleasure to meet you." He turned his head to Onai, a soft smile parting his lips as he moved towards her audit. "I'm so sorry my love, I didn't mean to disappear on you again . . ." He moved his head to nuzzle into her fur, hoping she wasn't angry or upset with him. "I fell into a cave, it tunneled for miles it seemed. I couldn't see much, but I finally found my way back to you. You were what kept me going."
"Come with us and you will see this, our town of Halloween."
