The Peryton grew tired of the silence, and instead kept to himself. He had split off from his family, somehow just disappearing into the wilds. He stuck to the trees most days, singing with the birds. He missed interactions with his own kind, but became reclusive and feral almost himself. He strayed clear, as most didn’t come out to the forests anymore. Those in packs seemed to stay holed up for reasons he didn’t know anymore. However as he was growing older, he started finding he was raging with hormones.
He fluttered from tree to tree silently, before his nares caught the scent of a female. His eyes widened before looking down, there was a beautiful banded lass with wings like him. He gave a mountain bluebird chitter from the shadows before rustling down to the ground before her. His head cocked to the side. "You’re . . . You’re like me." He hadn’t spoken words in months. "You’re beautiful." Unlike a bird this time, he felt a predatory instinct. A want, a drive to have her. "Be mine tonight."
