Oh, Tyche, don’t cry . . . the teen told herself. She failed miserably in not crying. She found herself full of hope for the future . . . a future with laughter and love and joy and children. If Tyche ever bore pups, they would probably have Earth’s wings and eyes, and one or two might have her eyes or pelt; they’d have Tyche’s bloodlines as well. Maybe her eyes, or . . . well, really anything. She looked at Snow. Earth’s mother was pretty. Tyche couldn’t really see why she had gotten the name that she had, because she was a blue-eyed, red-furred wolf. No snow-like features anywhere . . . though Tyche supposed Snow’s parents could have given that name to their daughter if she was born in a snowstorm. Or amidst spring snows, or something.
She blinked through her tears at Earth. “I guess it’s settled then,” she murmured, taking in Earth’s nut brown eyes and coat of grey. “I think my father would approve of an eventual match.”
