Re: Spare, or spares, 10kW 316B on Mi Amigo 1972/3 to 1980
Silver Tom I remember the 199 transmissions well, meant all the radios that came in for repair with Caroline on the dial had it on the right place. There was a bad whistle as dark came on as they were probably off frequency?I rememeber hearing them saying they were closing early to avoid causing interfence then after xmas they changed over to 259.Was really exciting to hear the station that I had seen on so mant radio dials in my job repairing radios and tvs. Previous Message Hans: Caroline used 1187Khz or 253 metres when it first returned to the air with tests in the Autumn of 1972. This was the same channel used up to when it was towed away in 1968. When the mast collapsed, they were heard as Radio 199 but reverted to 1187 later using the so called 'Micky Mouse Mast' 199 was a dreadful channel making listening at night very difficult. Previous Message Sounds good, thanks! When the Mi Amigo started broadcasting again in 1972 199 was used, not 259. Could this have been from No. 32, presumably still tuned to 199? Previous Message Eventually serial number 32 arrived on the Mi Amigo.
