Not sure about that, but the mast itself lost the top part first and later most of the rest went overboard so It wouldn't have made much of a difference anyway. Previous Message Wasn’t it also stated somewhere that it turns out that surface cracking on those three insulators supporting the the big triangular mast was perfectly normal, and not a structural concern at all, and that bridging them with welded steel had been unnecessary? Rob A Previous Message Thanks, I missed the fact that the 1187 broadcasts in 1972 preceded the '199' ones. Still I guess 199 came from the transmitter that must have been installed prior to the installation of the triangular mast. The triangular mast with the base insulators must have been the best setup ever on the Mi Amigo, from a radio engineers standpoint. Mechanically it wasn't very sustainable.
