For example - Oregon was historically a red state - in over a hundred years (1864 to 1984) it only voted for a democrat pres 7 times. The last time Oregon voted Republican for Pres was Reagan in 1984. For some reason Oregon went to Dukakis in 1988. Some of this is attributed to the rise of the Silicone Forest - all those techies relocating to Oregon. Whatever the reason, Oregon has not voted for a Republican Presidential candidate since.
There are 14 counties in eastern Oregon that are attempting to secede to Idaho and one of the common themes for why is those citizens/voters has asserted they have no democracy.
Maybe mail in ballots don't have anything to do with that though.
