Perhaps that's somewhat offset by the time allowed to become better informed?
Ballots arrive several weeks in advance of the deadline/Election Day. Maybe that allows time for people not paying attention to politics to get at least a headline-level grasp of the issues (all most Americans have anyway, imo)? Hard to say. But an ill-informed electorate, regardless of details like voting methods, is poisonous to democracy, for sure.
