I buy the powder version so as to mix as suitable for whatever I'm putting it on.
Nice ham sandwich using crusty loaf and a dab of mustard, heaven.
HP has certainly changed and it's not just a case of being manufactured elsewhere being the cause of it.
One reason being is the programs food manufacturers over here brought into being to reduce salt/sugar contents in foodstuff
(with the overhanging threat of a government salt/sugar tax looming large not as yet implemented) which whilst noble in intent had the effect of making a swath of stuff tasteless or very much changed, HP being one of them.
Cadbury chocolate has never tasted ok since Mondelez International took them over and started to make chocolate Hershey style giving it a vomit like taste, although in fairness I believe they eventually altered the recipe to more suit European tastes. The addition of Butyric acid being the villain of the piece I believe.
Fancy a packet of crisps with your pint? Drooling at the thought of that cheese and onion or salt and vinegar flavour combined with a pint of dark mild?
Forget it, whereas once upon a time they would shred the roof of your mouth with salty-vinegary goodness, now they are no more than tasteless shards of cardboard and so the list goes on.
So between buyouts and the salt/sugar/fat Nazis having their say somethings are definitely tasting different and not for the better and no it's not because we're getting older and suffering changing tastes.
