of the disastrous super heavy industrial/chemical plants along the northern NJ Turnpike, (once-upon-a-time the beautiful meadowlands), the state opens up both south and west - and its countryside there. I've explored many a country road, visiting at the field fences young Thoroughbreds. My old hometown had greenhouses, and easy walk from my house - the owner grew prize winning orchids. Of course, now long gone. Yes, the towns are very close together - there use to be fewer, larger towns but politics and such split them into smaller ones.
