Seeing that mast still rising up out of the sea three years later when the Ross dropped anchor in the Knock Deep makes you realise how sturdy the construction was although I believe the top bit did come down shortly after it was first erected off the Dutch coast and before the final move back to the English coast.
Welding hoses, at a guess, Mike - I believe the other numbers were Main anchor gone, spare anchor down, the other one probably referred to the leaks.
