Well 1170 & 1251 have gone three days ahead of schedule. 257 metres 47 years down the track just switched off without a mention in contrast to the fanfare and talk of the town when it launched as Radio Orwell back in 75

I happened to be staying around Peterborough this weekend and decided to stop off at the Gunthorpe transmitting station while 1332 is still on the air before it also closes on Friday. I remember very well hearing the test transmissions and early output of Hereward radio 225 even from my home in Essex with the help of a frame aerial. A lot of radio history here.
