Just 22 ? Luxury !!
Just did a scan on a XHDATA D-808 in my garden with own aerial --8 stations.
Five live on 2 frequencies so that's 7 stations
BBC on 2 frequencies -same programme so that's 6.
Something in the distance on 558 and Downtown Radio on 1026.
If it wasn't for Radio Wales on 882 and Manx Radio on 1368 the band would be dead.
Shape of things to come.

yes Ken , very unceremonious but I guess they are sure that next to nobody was still listening to Medium wave. Smooth radio is as boring as it gets whatever way you listen anyway. Gold is better but not much.
As for the Radio 4 fillers, I would be certain they will be gone before the end of this year as Radio 4 Longwave is due to go in March. These should have been closed more than twenty years ago as their reason for being long passed.
As a bit of interest, I did a band scan of Medium wave at my location in North Essex yesterday afternoon using my Eton E5 radio with no additional antennas and there are now just 22 channels that have anything audible on them! At least 3 of those are unlistenable due to multiple echoes - these being the out of area versions of Talk Sport and Five live.
