One constant in our "discoveries" was that they were usually common knowledge at the time (early 1960s) but that the "stories" changed over the years, we were just reinstating them.
Commercial offshore radio in Europe goes back to 1958 in Denmark, the Netherlands in 1960 and Sweden 1960/61, not 1964 in Britain.
If there is a hero for pioneering offshore radio in the UK, from 1960 onwards, it should be Alan Crawford, who, although he led an interesting life after the virtual end of Project Atlanta c1966, is now largely forgotten and ignored and who's final years (to 1999) was affected by ill-health.
I remember Ian, that you told me about some of the positive results achieved until it all went a bit mad. As someone who listened to you on RNI when I was a kid and have corresponded with you since the late 70's, I value your opinion.
And Mervyn, I put "that sentence" in to once again be entertained by you. Unlike your other projects, you always deliver on that.
