1. Many drivers literally charge through traffic circles.
2. Drivers entering the highway act as if drivers who are already on the highway are legally obligated to yield to them. That is backwards.
3. Drivers in the center and far left lanes (on the highway) pace each other often at a slow speed. Aggressive drivers move into the far right lane in order to speed and bypass the slower traffic. In that instance, no one is following the law.
4. Drivers think that the right and left emergency lanes/shoulders are there for their personal convenience and private use.
5. Slow down in construction zones? From the way many behave, that's just a suggestion.
I even saw a driver, who took the wrong exit literally back up on the exit ramp and re-enter the highway going. . . backwards!!
6. Cell phone laws only apply to those who feel like obeying them.
7. High beams are meant to be turned on and left on all the time.
8. Obstructing traffic by making an illegal turn is okie-dokie.
9. No on worries about creating traffic hazards on blind turns - I guess most New Yorkers can see through buildings and obstructions to far down the road.
10. On narrow roads bicyclists are suppose to ride side by side by side. . . no one is to ride in single file. Bicyclists love being targets.
11. Traffic lights are to be beat before they turn red.
12. Blocking intersections and creating grid-lock is something every driver dreams of experiencing.
I can go on, but at the risk of ranting, I'll just say. . . Welcome to NY!
