It's wasteful and abusive to expect the American people to support and maintain such a thing, especially at a time when more and more people are suffering and having to tighten their belts.
Just today they were talking on KC's "Heart of the Matter" about cutting access to medical facilities, aid, and programs in KC, namely that support pregnant women and children. Now more people will suffer and die because they are cutting these services, and at a time when more people will be needing such services due to the extreme anti-abortion laws that they enacted after the repeal of RvW. On top of that, KC is trying to collect more in taxes to support many other necessities and services, such as education, and there is now an ongoing backlash and fight against raising real estate taxes by 50% or higher, where many people can no longer even afford to stay in their homes at those rates.
To build and indulge in such an unnecessary luxury that WILL be supported and paid for ongoing by taxpayers who are already suffering, is a monumental waste and abuse of power, IMO.
