Maybe they are just rarely woodland creatures, or the hawks, owls, and coyotes are doing their work.
My cats & dogs only bring trophies of mice, voles, moles, squirrels, and an opossum (once) to the garage steps to show me.

By July, the hawks, owls, coyotes and bobcats would clear out the entire population. The rinse and repeat the next year.
Now, overdevelopment has pushed out nature’s animal control and the rabbits run rampant basically all year. I walk out my front door and it looks like a fvcking Teletubbies casting call.
