During my first tour of duty in Atlanta, I used to go with Moncrief. They were really good and
paying them $300/yr on their service plan saved my bacon (I lived in a 1947 building with a *Very*Old* unit) a few times. Inquired with the company who installed our systems, a company through Costco, and Moncrief. Moncrief was the best price and easily the most responsive. WOULD BANG. Turns out that despite it rarely getting below freezing, people here don't do heat pumps, which I think is a bit crazy. Coldest it gets here is 15-20 overnight and you need a gas furnace? pshaw.
Even crazier is that we were quoted a cheaper price for heat pump + gas backup (preexisting gas line) than heat pump + electric backup. Same heat pump model and everything. I don't get that at all, but it was $1,000 less to go with gas backup.
