The quotes I've gotten range anywhere from $13,000 to $18,000, depending on the provider and type of
system. We're going in the middle. Both our current systems are 3 ton units and that's what we are going with to replace the upstairs. Turns out that despite it rarely getting below freezing, people here don't do heat pumps, which I think is a bit crazy. Coldest it gets here is 15-20 overnight and you need a gas furnace? pshaw.
Even crazier is that we were quoted a cheaper price for heat pump + gas backup (preexisting gas line) than heat pump + electric backup. Same heat pump model and everything. I don't get that at all, but it was $1,000 less to go with gas backup.
