Assume you mean the ductless split systems? Yeah, they're pretty popular globally for that
reason and they've gotten very efficient. We had those in AirBnBs in Europe and that's what people install in India when they get A/C. Turns out that despite it rarely getting below freezing, people here don't do heat pumps, which I think is a bit crazy. Coldest it gets here is 15-20 overnight and you need a gas furnace? pshaw.
Even crazier is that we were quoted a cheaper price for heat pump + gas backup (preexisting gas line) than heat pump + electric backup. Same heat pump model and everything. I don't get that at all, but it was $1,000 less to go with gas backup.
