and again after graduation. This would give the kids a bit of a longer term view as to their situation at their current school but it would still give them some freedom to move if things really aren't going well.

I know it’s never going back, but hate to see kids give up after one season.
Lots of Illini success stories could have bolted after year 1 if there wasn’t a sit out period.
Powell and Archibald at the top of the list.
If they really want to transfer, they will (like Blackwell, Storey) and be okay with sitting out a year.
Otherwise, hang a carrot out there that if they graduate, they can move on without penalty.

College basketball just feels so transactional. Nothing against Domask, Guerrier, Harmon, and any other transfer we have gotten, but I just miss the days of 3 or 4 recruit classes where you followed them for 1 or 2 years of high school play, then you watched them develop into All Big Ten players (Brandon Paul, McCamey, etc.) or someone who becomes a great glue or have a huge senior moment (Tyler Griffey).
It just feels like there isn't an excuse for anyone to develop, it's just win now because there's a tool (transfer portal) that allows you do that.
This has been my old man yelling at cloud moment for the day.
