But I don’t really want a QB if his main selling point is being a great athlete. If that’s a complementary skill on top of being a plus passer, then sure. But if he can’t get his completion percentage up to 65 or so, all the running in the world isn’t going to help. And, as you note, you’d need to build your offense around his strengths and weaknesses, which seems like a big risk for a guy that hasn’t even shown that he’s good enough to lead a winning offense.
I don’t know, just seems to me like Bears fans got invested in him and are over-rating him based on their own hopes, and making excuses for his shortcomings. But maybe seeing him every week has allowed them to recognize potential that isn’t showing up on the stat sheet or the scoreboard.

They gave him basically nothing to work with his first 2 years, both in terms of weapons and the quality of the team overall.
The case would be: Super athlete that hasn’t been put into a situation to succeed with minimal resources and an OC that didn’t play to his strengths. Find a team that will run Danny Dimes 2022 stuff and you can cook with Fields.

If I’m a fan of the Falcons or whomever, what reason is there for me to ge happy if my team trades for a proven loser who has shown over three years that he’s a mediocre to poor passer, a guy whose only plus skill is his legs, which is of limited value for an NFL qb, and who will be on an expensive contract starting next year?
Playing devil’s advocate a bit, but I just don’t see the case for giving up any valuable draft capital to get Fields. He’s had three years and shown very little. Seems like a poor man’s Michael Vick, which isn’t a compliment to me.

- The unanimous sentiment across the league about Williams being way ahead of Maye as the #1 QB prospect was stronger than they expected. They haven’t come across anyone that has Maye equal to Williams
- Potentially related, they don’t think a swap of #1 and #2 is out of the question based on what they’re hearing, likely driven by Washington’s desire to move up. But did acknowledge that they haven’t really heard anything to suggest that the Bears are motivated to take that risk, even if it could bring a haul.
- Said the trade market for Fields seems to be “wildly underwhelming” based on everyone they’ve talked to, that there aren’t many teams interested and everyone still wants to get something better than him.
