My wife had to go alcohol free for a surgery and recovery so I stopped in support and afterwards we just decided to cool it. Wasn't even difficult. Never looked back.

Personally, I rededicated myself to physical fitness when I retired. Two hikes a day, weights at night. A diet revolving around fresh vegetables with just a side of animal protein and carbs.
No more than one drink a week. Alcohol is really, really bad for you.
