these are low information voters that are very fungible. Slotkin beat Rogers by 20K votes, and she's a total badass. You're correct that the environment is way worse for Republicans, but never discount the power of racism and xenophobia.

I might actually be worried about black turnout more than rural whites. Racism is indeed powerful but Obama proved a minority with a funny (scary) name could win and win big in the Rust Belt.

I think this race will ultimately be decided by how much help AES gets. If Stevens, McMorrow et al get behind him I think he wins. If he's on his own with nobody but Hasan Piker, then it's going to be an incredibly tough road.

But also, if Chipotle is your route, you can still get one packed with meat, beans, and veggies for around ten bucks. It will be only be above twenty once you add guac, double protein (and the seasonal specialty one at that) add chips and a drink, get it delivered. Then yeah, you're paying a bunch.

My wife and daughter love Chipotle so we get it a couple times every month. Our three orders come to roughly $32 and there's enough for an individual extra leftover lunch.

That being said, you're correct that people seem absolutely incapable of looking at their lifestyle and realizing that maybe it's OK to eat beans and rice once in a while, or to eat a TV dinner rather than ordering Chipotle via Door Dash.

but I do think it's worth pointing out how much more often people seem to eat out these days relative to how often my family ate out when I was a kid. My memory is that eating out was very much a treat and we only did it like 4-5 times a year. Now you hear of people who are getting door dash for their entire family literally every day. There is a lot to take in here, but I think the reality is that people now have just made a tradeoff between cost and convenience, and we've lost sight of budgeting and being cost conscious. Amendment 5, in replacing the income tax with sales and service taxes, would have given jefferson city carte blanche to tax whatever they feel is necessary and at whatever rate they deem appropriate while shifting the burden from the rich to the poor.

Amendment 4 was removing the rights from citizens to do anything to change it.

And after a bitter hard fought close primary AES is gonna have to be a unifying figure and maybe he can be but that seems tough.

There are thousands of voters who would vote for all those policies if the name were *slightly* less Muslim.

Both El-Sayed and Stevens spoke about bringing the party together last night, and they both planned to attend the upcoming unity event.

First ATACMs isn’t long range; it’s only about 300 km. Tomahawk is what we use for long range, still have 50% of those. PrSM is brand new, didn’t have much magazine depth to begin with.

Second is the so what. Why do the Iranians, CCP, Russians have so many missiles and we don’t? Because the USAF and USN will almost immediately establish air supremacy in a conflict. So they invested in missiles to do long range fires. US does long range primarily with GPS guided bombs on planes. Our magazine depth in that regard is very very deep. Losing the ATACMs hurts the Army in a ground conflict (ATACMs was built to do counter fire on enemy ground based artillery systems and the air defense shooters that protect them.). Exhausting ATACMs is a luxury we can afford, won’t be valuable against China over Taiwan, range is too great from where we could shoot them, ie not Taiwan.

Trump is fine with this deal but then gets mad and starts bombing again when it’s pointed out that this represents a complete victory for Iran over the US. It’s seemed fairly certain since like week 2 that this would be the eventual outcome, but Trump is unwilling to admit he lost, so things have kept dragging on.

"Eliminate income tax"? Cool, right? No.

1. It's not an instant elimination of income tax; it's a gradual phase out but the increase in sales tax would be immediate.
2. This gives the state the right to increase the sales tax to whatever they want it to be without the people having a say on it.
3. This also opens up a whole new category of goods and services to be taxed that weren't taxed before, like going to the doctor.
4. No income tax works for some states like Tennessee and Florida because they have the tourism to make up for it. Missouri does not.
5. Kansas tried this in 2012, and it was a disaster they had to unwind in 5 years. Missouri is much closer to Kansas than Florida demographically.

Unless you're the top 1%, you'll end up spending more in sales tax increases than you did in income tax.

Missouri allows citizen-initiated Constitutional amendments.

This would require EACH DISTRICT to pass the amendment with more than 50% of the vote in order for the measure to pass. There are 8 districts. One is heavily blue the rest are varying shades of red thanks to gerrymandering. You could have 90% of the state in favor of something, but if 1 district opposes it 51-49, it fails.

It's essentially a way to end the citizen initiatives.

China has apparently slashed their oil imports in half since the war started, and this has been the single biggest reason (and there’s no close second) that oil prices haven’t spiked to $150+.

The stranger bit is that analysts are not completely sure what China has been able to do to manage this shift, because they don’t appear to have been drawing down their known strategic reserves. So best guess is that they had built up really massive secret reserves of oil and refined products and have been tapping those.

their prices during the pendency of the tariffs. They appear to have absorbed both the tariffs and the RAMpocalypse costs. They did raise their prices for everything but the iPhones and AirPods recently but that was due to RAM costs and well after the tariffs expired.
