Here's a new one. Googling for "Straight left" I got a number of hits that suggested that the name of this grouping was chosen to indicate an anti-gay agenda (straight = heterosexual). This is nonsense isn't it? Apart from referencing left as a political position, a straight left was a punch in boxing, if my memory of 1950s comics is anything to go by.
