Well, if so it was not generally recognised as such. And given some of the heroes of Straight Left such as the Cambridge spies, an odd position to take. But I do remember that when the Sunderland CPGB branch had a speaker from the West German communist party, he spent some time saying that feminism was a bourgeois diversion and that communists should have nothing to do with it. (My words, but that was certainly the gist.) Given the real achievements of the GDR in the field of women's rights this was a surprising line to take, although he must have believed that feminism and women's rights were two unconnected things. I don't know how accurately it represented the position of the DKP.
