This reminds me of the joke circulating on the internet: "I studied Philosophy because of the power, the status and the money; the incessant sex was just a bonus." The truth is that anyone who worked as a CPGB full-timer condemned themself to a life on the breadline if they did not have a spouse / partner with a well-paying job. I know of two comrades who were on the Euro flank - Dave Cook and Monty Johnstone - who lived immensely frugal lives on their party salaries and afterwards. This applied to those of all "tendencies" who took full-timer jobs, from John Gollan to Sid French. Incidentally, I noted on the old site that "revisionist" seems to be a very elastic term that has little to do with Lenin's definition, but I think that this is the first time I've seen it applied to members of Straight Left. Who ISN'T a revisionist - "thou and me, and I'm none too sure of thou"?
