Not all people who had been in the CPGB were equally qualified or employable. Most were generally skilled, competent and articulate, some were less so, and a small number were mentally unstable, clueless or inarticulate. Some former members were looking for advancement at work, others weren't. Some of them found themselves involved in industrial disputes, while others worked in areas where there were no disputes. Some worked in industries which were being destroyed in the 1980s and 1990s, while others worked in rising industries. Some set up their own businesses. Some became ill or disabled. Some drank too much. They were a diverse bunch of people with diverse post-party fates. There really is no mystery here at all.
