The crimson skirted theta’s lip curled in slight annoyance at her daughter’s straightforward ”Mother.” Kanaya continued to question her daughter, her lip curling once again and a slightly audible ‘tsk’ after her daughter let a soft laugh out. Kanaya wanted to bark at her to cut it out and be respectful, but that would be making her quite the hypocrite. Rather, Lucaya was being respectful in that she refrained from speaking until the mother had gotten all her thoughts out into the air. When her daughter cleared her throat, Kanaya’s emerald gaze snapped to her daughter’s crimson eyes – those were Damian’s eyes – the ess felt her heart strings tug. She missed him. ”Would you have rather I sent your grandchildren?” Kanaya’s posture froze up and her eyes widened momentarily as Lucaya continued to speak. ”What choice have I had really in any of this?” Noting the change in her tone, shifting to more strained, Kanaya’s gaze softened as she turned to properly face her daughter, giving her the full attention she deserved. ”Lahmer and Skade, they are all I have left. Skade’s soulmate disappeared, and Lahmer is a Queen herself in Drekistone. I have but one daughter available. I could not ship her off to be met with a potential situation like our cousin had.” Kanaya sighed softly, her emerald eyes flicking down for a moment. Those events led to that war, and Damian’s own death, and almost as if her daughter knew what was going through her mind, the next words snapped Kanaya’s green gaze back up to meet her crimson one. ”You’ve mourned father for a long time, and will for a long time. But you are needed as a piece in this game, mother. You’re wiser, stronger than your grandchildren. You can handle what is thrown at you. Can you say the same for them?” As much as she loved Maverick and how he had found the sweetheart Kelsea, none of their children would be able to handle an Amaya mate. Kanaya understood what Lucaya needed to do, but still felt…ashamed. Of herself. ”You will be expected to stay. Chiodos is not an heir, he has no legitimate reason to stay in Amaya. Amaya is the only other pack with vampire blood in their royal line, they will know what to expect from it instead of being fearful. Instead of being feared, you will be respected.” Kanaya’s head was slightly lowered as she tried to keep her green gaze on her daughter, however, her ear flicked upon hearing that sigh. ”Not to mention, Irina is now apart of Amaya. I would not send you, or any member of Hawthorne to a madhouse that would allow her on the soil given her…problematic titles.” Kanaya expressed confusion at the utterance of Irina being part of a pack once again, her head once again facing Lucaya, and since her head was already there, the crimson skirted lady attempted to meet the crimson gaze. ”Chiodos has seemed more than happy to agree to this alliance. Amaya laws are usually in favor of women as well, so he would surely be a loyal and good husband to you. He will be here shortly, tonight actually…” Kanaya backpedaled slightly, her right back snake-skin bracer shifting. She didn’t have much time to process it all, prepare even. Her nares picked up on the scent of a male and her head whipped to the source just as he had begun to speak, bowing his head. ”Lady Kanaya, Queen Lucaya.” Kanaya kept a stoic look on her face, observing the lad. She had immediately noticed that he appeared to be young and spry, hidden behind pitch fur, and she also noted his bloodlines – a skull sat atop his head with large horns, along with a monokeros horn. His eyes of bright, acidic green were a bit off-putting. She remembered this general appearance from somewhere but had difficulty thinking about that in moment. A grin laced his maw as he introduced himself as one of the sons from the royals of Amaya. His eyes then met her own, but she did not dare break it. If she was to be wed to this brute, he needed to know his place in that she was the one with the power here. ”It’s a pleasure to meet you, Kanaya. An honor. Your reputation says nothing of your beauty, but it should.” Kanaya held back the eyeroll that she so wanted to get out. Instead, she bit her tongue from wanting to verbalize the fact that flattery would get him nowhere. This pack treaty was a game, and she had to play along. For the safety of her family. The crimson skirted lass would only play along so much, however, as she was going to be the hardest catch out of all the relationships that would likely form from this marriage pact. ”You flatter me, Chiodos. Thank you.” She wanted to barf. A small, forced smile graced her lips. However, upon a soul-tie fizzling into existence between the two of them, her forced smile quickly faltered and switched to a slightly-open maw in shock. Her emerald gaze flicked back and forth between the line, Lucaya, and Chiodos. Instinctively, Kanaya began to lift her paw up as if she were to break it, but stopped, paw staying mid-air for a few moments. She could not do that – their relationship was one of the many pieces that were to keep peace within Starfall. And if she were to cut it then and there… it certainly would make everything a lot harder. Her emerald gaze landed on the tie coming from her chest once again, and a soft sigh left her maw as she slowly lowered her paw. ”F-Forgive me, I-“ The words were soft, a twinge of sadness within them, and her expression slightly disheartened as she looked up to Chiodos. Should it not be disturbed, silence hung in the air for a moment before Kanaya spoke once more, her face returning to a stoic expression. ”I really should work on restocking my supplies.” Her gaze flicked to her daughter for a second before returning to Chiodos. ”The plague really limited my herbs.” Kanaya struggled to get the next words out, clearing her throat before speaking to the nightmare lad. ”...care to join me?” Regardless of his answer, not really waiting for it, her tights of copperhead scales started to move towards. He’d follow if he really was interested. Actions and thoughts and "Words."
