WE DIE ONLY TO BE BORN INTO MONSTROSITY
The Hellhound prince felt nothing but glee, hoping to put on his best face to woo the mother of the Vampire Queen. He knew of her prior engagement, her being a widow and all with many children, many who had passed as well. Now a grandmother. Honestly, he was surprised by the fact that Lucaya had offered her into the treaty, but from her family being thrown around into packs, it seemed the large family was dwindling down in numbers these days. Regardless, he was more than happy with his match. She reflected a pitch resemblance just as he, but instead she had snake scales of a venomous serpent. Her auburn patch on her rump resembled a black widow to him, something that caught his eye on his way over towards them when he looked over Kanaya, before she had turned. Those hips. He kept his tongue in cheek, not wanting to slip. He too was a venomous serpent, but not in the literal and visible sense that Kanaya had.
More than anything though, he wanted to be a part of this. The feared Vampire pack, Hawthorne. His mother was a vampire closer to the end of her life. He knew the ropes, the wants, the hunger. He’d seen it first hand. He’d likely eventually try to convince Kanaya to turn him. As he spoke, attempting to compliment the lady, he was met with what he could only see as a fake, forced smile behind her words. ”You flatter me, Chiodos. Thank you.” His eyes flickered, before he saw in awe the strand that connected him suddenly to her by the chest. His eyes quickly darted to Kanaya, to see her face. She looked stunned. She lifted her paw towards it, causing him to flinch. If she were to reject him, he would fail. But, she didn’t break the tie. Instead she spoke again. ”F-Forgive me, I-” His eyes stayed on her as he studied her. Sadness seemed mixed into her voice and facial expressions. Was it over her previous mate? Or was she just not wanting to be tied to him? ”I really should work on restocking my supplies. The plague really limited my herbs.” He nodded slowly in response. ”...care to join me?”He grinned, bowing once more to Lucaya before following closely behind. "I would love to." He spoke softly.
As he followed her, he made sure to keep out of earshot from Lucaya as they got away from her. He’d wait until Kanaya would find the area she’d like to begin her harvest at. "So," He said softly. "I can’t help but notice you seem troubled by all of this." He quickly cleared his throat, meaning to recover and reword. "What I mean is the tie, more so . . . I’m sorry. It’s my fault, my mother and father were tied as well, so it makes sense I would have one. I’m just glad it’s with you and not someone outside of the treaty." He paused, if she chose not to speak he would understand. If she chose to speak, he would reply before continuing on the rest of his words. "I do want to say, I’m not in a rush for anything. I’m just very thrilled to meet you and with our arrangement. I appreciate you still humoring the tie and idea of this all, despite seeming to be unhappy. I will do my best to grow on you. After all, Amaya laws are that women pick their mates. You haven’t picked me, so I’ll just have to try to win you over." He attempted to give her a reassuring smile, hoping to not come off as annoying.
