WE DIE ONLY TO BE BORN INTO MONSTROSITY
The Nightmare was curious to learn more about his soulmate, he wanted to be near her. To comfort her. To be everything she wanted and needed. Her inviting him to join her in collecting herbs seemed comforting, somewhat. She could have snapped their tie in an instant, but instead chose to leave it. He had a chance. But what would it take to woo the Queens mother? Surely he was a young Prince in her eyes, and she a widow in his. But he didn't view her as older. Wiser, maybe, she certainly had to have knowledge past his existence here in Starfall. But that didn't make him feel incompetent in the situation.
He spoke up of her seeming unhappy, which was a given. He knew some of her past, briefly at least. His emerald gaze stayed on her after he spoke, waiting for her words as he admitted his parents tie likely is why they had been tied - by some chance. Some fate. Somehow they were meant for each other. ”You really don’t know me well, huh?” His ears pinned back for a moment. ”I was one of the first wolves here to have a soul tie, and have children from a soul tie, likely before you were born. Perhaps before you were even thought of.” He gave a silent sigh through his nostrils at her words. She would prove to be difficult, but he was willing to do what he could to gain her affection. ”This tie is not your fault, and I’m not blaming you.” His ears pinned back to her, confusion on his face as he watched her pull herbs. ”It’s the" Rip. ”damned fates Rip. ”to blame.”
He spoke in turn, speaking of how he was raised in Amaya. Their laws. How he wasn't in a rush for anything with her. Her body rested on the ground near him, just separated by the herbs she plucked. His emerald gaze stayed on her as she spoke. ”Chiodos, please understand that it will take me a while. It’s… This has been a lot for me to process. I barely had time to mentally prepare before your arrival.” He nodded, understanding. Her pained eyes looked to him, and he saw the waves of curiousness enter them before she spoke once more. ”What do you know about me? You mentioned my reputation, however, you were unaware of my background with soul-ties.” He gave a soft grin, his emeralds lighting up. "Well, when I asked about you I was told of your fight in Phobus's war. How you went after the man who had your daughter in Tarben after she was plucked from Hawthorne by Beartooth. I know of your children, that you were turned by Queen Lucaya . . . " He gave a soft inhale, his smile falling shortly. "I knew of Damian, but only by his name, and not that you were tied. I am very sorry for your loss, and for the loss of some of your children." His eyes dropped down to his paws. He knew of loss. His own mother was taken by the very plague he had a hand in creating - But Falicier was the mastermind. "I too have lost loved ones. I know I cannot replace what you have lost, but I do hope in time you will come to love me." If she spoke more after he, he'd listen. But her next words laced with a smirk pulled him in. ”I probably know more about you, Chiodos, than you know about me.” His emerald gaze shot back to her, confusion flashed in them. Was it the affair, had Hazel bore children that resembled him? Was he seen leaving with Falicier and Salem after the war? What had he done that she knew of? He had hardly left Amaya, but both times he did, it was trouble. He cocked his head to the side, eyes staying straight on her. "What could you possibly know about little old me, Miss Kanaya?"
