Athena’s eyes widened as she heard Kublai’s words. Her heart plummeted as Vryko came bounding out of the bushes, begging to go to Tarben. Something in the queen absolutely snapped.
Just like that.
“No!” she practically screamed. “Everyone shut up! Shut up! Go tell Beartooth and Wendigo that as I never agreed, no! As for you, Vryko, you cannot go. Tarben is no place for my children and it will never be! So stop, stop stop stop telling me what I need to do! It’s not happening. Go to h e l l!” Truth be told, this had been wearing on Athena for a long time. She had never agreed, yet she knew the time would come that Wendigo would want to collect. Flames spread to her tail. “Nobody is taking my child anywhere,” she uttered, in a low growl. This peacock twerp could go back to Tarben, back to Soraya and Beartooth and that stupid f u c k i n g Wendigo. Tell them this. She was not going to yield. She was never going to give her children over to Tarben!
Athena’s eyes narrowed. “Tell me I can’t,” she said softly. “Tell me I can’t keep them. They’re safe here. Why shouldn’t they be? After all, there are no womanizers to prey on Vryko or corrupt Asmodeus. No “Danes” to bother Sindri!” She snarled at the man, a smirking scowl.
“I’m losing it, all I get’s insanity, insanity!”
