It is a fascinating subject.
Without getting into too much detail, I have done work over my career with several North American tribes, have attended dozens of tribal ceremonies, and have developed many life long friendships among both treaty and non-treaty tribes. I sometimes wonder what will become of the treaty tribes in the not-so-distant future as bloodlines to the treaty-signing ancestors continue to become dilluted over time. In many tribes the most active and controversial governing groups are the Enrollment Committees who must keep lowering the native blood percentages to keep their numbers relevant.
