White washing history started before this

it was easy to compare history books from around the US and see HUGE discrepancies (I will find the article again if I can).
Fine, celebrate the good stuff, but OWN our mistakes. Children should not be taught that slavery was "good" or that all brown people are dangerous. We are a country of many people with many faiths and many cultures. That should be reflected, but to simply "put away" uncomfortable history is asking for trouble.
