No we can't fix them, but they should remain an example
of what NOT to do. You can't just wave your magic wand and make slavery disappear because it's uncomfortable. Let people see it for what it was - ugly and inhumane ... then discuss the heroes that came out of the situation, the lives that were changed for the better afterward. History is a very big picture, and clipping out what you don't like is disengenuous.
