Roads around my place (rural) are still covered in ice but now they have a layer of water on top.

Thankfully, no injuries. This is Lil Taz's bus, but we drop her off in the morning

I’m relieved your kid was one of the non-injured on a bus she doesn’t ride. My kid too. *

It's a waste of a day. No learning. More effort by the parents. If you need to cancel school

It's not that hard. The district calendar set before the school year begins has a set number of...
-
EffinIllini
January 23, 2024, 9:17:05
You think it's simple, but they have like... 2. Because if you do a week, and then shorten the year

Haha as someone who got roped into PTA president I certainly understand parents won’t be happy

January 23, 2024, 10:19:25
Agreed, eLearning is not a good option for long term instruction
-
tvillini
January 23, 2024, 10:56:54
Ongoing, permanent e-learning is absolutely not a substitute for in person classes
-
Taz
January 23, 2024, 10:41:10
Missing school a couple days won’t either. So why pretend?*
-
CoronaTheirAss
January 23, 2024, 10:53:21
Because the State absolutely mandates 180 days of instruction.
-
tvillini
January 23, 2024, 10:57:59
And my point is that elearning should not be a substitute. If 180 days are mandated
-
CoronaTheirAss
January 23, 2024, 11:06:28
They get made up in summer. You think the kids are more focused then

that certainly seems to be where they're headed, if today is any indication*

EffinIllini
January 23, 2024, 10:02:45
Here they just waive make-up days, calling everything an "emergency"
-
Potomac
January 23, 2024, 8:59:28

January 23, 2024, 9:30:32
You can pull your kids out of school to leave on that vacation if you want
-
IlliniOllie

They can, but not before reading the riot act to the school for having makeup days.

When we have e-learning days, they are asynchronous. The schools understand that most parents

I think there are office hours that teachers have to provide as well. At least in our district.
