Previous Message Previous Message There's a Guitar Center, and, like I said, it's not horrible because it just isn't that busy. I'm a little surprised it's still open, just because of the location and the lack of traffic the times I've been in there. As a rule, I like GC's except for the stupid busy ones like the one you described. We have a large local store that sold out to West Music after a lot of years as an indy. Owners decided to retire and sell rather than have someone take it over. It was a great store pre-sale....haven't been there since. It is (was?) my go to for amplifier repairs....the had a really good service department. There are 2 niche stores that are kinda trying to fill the hole that Griggs left as the local indy shop . One guy started in a really small storefront downtown and has already moved into bigger digs up in one of the strip malls in NE Davenport in the middle of all the new retail. He's really expanded his inventory with the move, and I need to check the store out....but I really don't need another guitar, and I have a bad habit of walking into those places with one less guitar than I own when I walk out... I always recommend the local shop first...more individual attention, less stressful environment makes up for usually a more limited selection and slightly higher prices. Previous Message No associates really helping anyone, because they are too understaffed. And it's just a cacophony of noise and you can't really hear anything for yourself (though the acoustic area is always a bit quieter). We're lucky to have some pretty good local shops around here. I've found some gems at a little place in downtown Lincolnton which is about 40 minutes from Charlotte. There is a great shop in the Midwood neighborhood of Charlotte but they are usually more expensive. I usually just go there whenever I need info more than wanting to actually buy something.
