0% can separate emotional aspects of food or beverage from the physical aspects. If you go to an awesome vineyard in France and have a curator walk you through their lineup, if it's even above average, you'll think it's great. If you snatch a walla walla cab from the local store on your way to watch severance with friends, you will have a totally different mindset when tasting.
Blanket statements like no wine can hold a candle to French wine are just gross over simplification and exaggeration.

I do disagree with your generalization, as it is absurd. European winemakers send their kids to UC Davis to learn how to make wine.
