My daughter coaches mid-major DI and says that while it's not a complete deal killer, there has to be an excellent reason, and the kid has to be an absolute rock star. The issue is a red flag for the family wanting coaching and playing time input. Most of them have been coached by family throughout travel. She says you never say never, but it's cringy.
