There are some players that are playing competitive D1 softball without playing HS softball. Most of those players are from Iowa or from very small schools, not big enough to field a team. I would recommend any young player that has the opportunity to play HS softball, regardless of coaching, or competition, play with their HS teammates. Far more positives come from learning to deal with the challenges that you may face at that kevel.
