Given that background, I don’t want to engage on the specific question, but… Is it possible that we’re all just a bit too cynical about youth softball organizations? There are lots of easier ways to make money than running a league of parents and kids. Uber is probably a better route! Our daughter has been on 4 clubs and been around a lot of softball. Very rarely have I seen evidence of teams existing only for profit… and the lifestyles of the coaches wouldn’t suggest otherwise. My take is that it’s rarely greed, and almost never the primary contributor. More often it’s mismanagement, bad coaching, flawed execution, stupidity, or overly ambitious appetites that lead to players/parents having negative experiences - not some super villain designing a criminal financial empire out of his garage. |
