Also scripts can be added to some blockers where YouTube is concerned. In my case I found it odd when they switched the right hand panel to underneath where the comments usually are and couldn't get along with it so a quick net search found a "rule" that I added to Ublock Origin and normal service ensued.
I think the fact that YouTube is owned by Google may have some bearing re data mining.
Just as a side issue you may find this tool useful should you want to keep any videos you see on said site. It is a bit processor heavy but the end result is worth it and it's it's something I use mainly for jazz files. (it has a setting to download audio only)
