None of the participants were athletes competing at the national or international level." National and international level performances are won on the tiniest of margins. Because these athletes have not pushed themselves to the levels that elite athletes do, how do you know WHY one athlete is weaker at this or that without hardcore training? Maybe they chose apples, oranges, and grapes to compare and came out with a conclusion they liked rather than one that actually answers the questions posed? They also didn't test these athletes for years prior to transitioning vs after transitioning. So there's virtually no way to know what the individual differences in each athlete is after the fact. Only comparing on a general level, which allows for all kinds of mistaken conclusions.
