Again I don’t know how much those charts are updated after the comp picks are determined, so it’s either a 3rd or a 4th you lost by signing those guys.
Here’s the article direct from the OTC guys referencing the Everett/Swift trade off, I’m not sure why it doesn’t jive with the tables. Guess it’s possible there was action after May that moved things around?

For essentially dropping 2 rounds of compensation value twice, they were only awarded a 7th rounder- and the 3rd pick from the end of the draft at that. The value difference for the Saints would still be well above the value difference for the Bears.
If you take Pringle out, the Bears still aren't getting a comp pick, let alone a 3rd rounder.

The Everett signing was obviously bad in hindsight, but I understood it at the time. The Bears were very thin at TE and Everett had experience with Waldron. It clearly didn't work out. It wiped out the 6th rounder they would have gotten for Jones, not a 5th as you had listed.
Adding Swift did cost them the 4th they would have gotten from Mooney.
But that then gets to a larger question- are you just opposed to free agency in general? If they don't sign Swift, it's Khalil Herbert and Roschon Johnson as your 2 options at RB. If they don't sign Everett, it's Kmet essentially alone as the only option at TE with Marcedes Lewis a blocking option only. At that point in the offseason, you've already decided you're taking Caleb #1 and you're trying to give him support. It's a down draft class for RBs. Maybe you think you can hold off on Swift and take Blake Corum or Marshawn Lloyd in the 3rd? Does that solve your RB room? No. Not that we've seen so far, at least.
The TE group last year aside from one guy is also pretty poor. So then maybe you say this time last year "we're not gonna sign Everett, we'll target Bowers at pick 9." In hindsight, that's a great move. You don't have Odunze going forward, who they and a lot of people loved and is at a much more premium position, but you could at least argue that.
What I'm saying is, you're operating with a lot of hindsight.
