She waited until the meeting was over, and noticed Wendigo nod to her, beckoning her to follow. Of course, the fear of what would happen if she disobeyed coursed through her, but that was oddly put at some ease. Unintentionally, her posture matched his – head hung low, but her ears lay flat on he head, concern in her eyes. They perked up at Wendigo’s first words. ”I do not wish for you to do anything you do not wish to do with me. She cocked her head, confusion in her eyes and mind. What was this all about? Drevis was the prisoner. Beartooth told Wendigo that he could do what he wanted, just not kill her. Why hadn’t this wraith taken advantage of that? But a large part of her mind appreciated the respect…it was nice. It was different than what she had experienced at home with her sister, Aya. His amber eyes met her own emerald ones, and without hesitation, she sat. Just with the way his eyes looked, he was serious, but also a certain emotion she could not quite place. As much as she had not talked to him since her capturing, she learned his mannerisms. Most of the time he presented as cold and stoic, a puppet for Beartooth. He spoke again. ”I claimed you only to fulfill a promise.” This caused confusion to grow in Drevis – she had been under the impression that it was Wendigo’s job, that he was her guardian. But now she was being treated as a member of Tarben with all this claiming stuff? His light chuckle was music to Drevis’s ears, however, a small smile creeping onto her face as his eyes fell to the snowy ground. Realizing her own mannerisms, she returned her lips to a more neutral state, ears attentive. His eyes had returned to that serious look, but this time mixed with sadness. ”Drevis, I've done a lot I'm not proud of for Tarben. For Beartooth. I saw my mother fall in combat, and I also saw your father and sister fall too. I am so sorry for your loss. I clashed with your mother, Beartooth had taunted her with my presence I fear. She took my eye, bit me even, understandably so. I looked her in the eye and promised her your safety afterwards, I did not fight back. I did what I could to ensure that she knew you were unscathed despite your hostage situation." Her emerald eyes started to tear up as he spoke and she processed his words. For a moment she was glad she did not see the battlefield – Drevis was not the best with gory sights. That was the main reason why she had no desire to become a vampire. Wendigo was one himself, he surely belonged more in Hawthorne, home of the vampires? While giving silent condolences when the male spoke of losing his mother, the next words were more groundbreaking. Her sister, it could only be Aya, as Tarben lost the war, and her father were dead? A small gasp left her mouth from those words, eyes watering more. ”No…” she whimpered, her voice broken by silent tears. When Wendigo started to speak of fighting with her mom, a yearning to see her mother was present, but also her eyes wandered his body and injuries upon mention of them. Did he really not fight back? She did some damage, after all. When she noticed Wendigo look at her again, she averted her gaze to meet his. There was something about this eye contact that made her…relax? That was certainly weird. ”Lucaya demanded your return to visit Hawthorne in a truce with Beartooth, with myself and your niece with you. She wishes to see you and ask if you’d like to return home or stay with us.” Drevis’s eyes lit up momentarily – she’d get to see her family?! Her tail began to wag softly but stopped as soon as he spoke his next sentence, his words shaky. ”Before we venture, I’d like to confess something though.” Again, confusion plastered itself onto her pitch face and emerald green eyes. The shakiness of his voice, what was wrong? This was certainly a side she had not seen herself in her time being here. ”You may not speak to me much, but I cannot shake these undeniable feelings I have for you. This string does not help. I noticed it when I was in battle, and I could not bring myself to wound any who were of your pack. I could not find it in myself to hurt you in such a way, to take away your loved ones.” A smile found its way onto her maw. How was he so sweet, essentially disobeying orders from Beartooth…all for her sake? His last sentence plucked her heart strings. ”All I could think of was how I had to make sure I made it home to see you again.” His eyes looked down to his paws once more, ears flattening like her own had done earlier. She acted without hesitation, these next movements perhaps the closest she had been to the Wraith since here. She would lower her head to attempt to lift Wendigo’s head up with her maw. If he refused, she’d still try her best to make eye contact. It was her comfort, a solace she had found in no one else prior. ”I like looking into your eyes, Wendigo.” She started, hoping he would pick up the hint before she spoke once more. After all, she had not spoken to him much, and the first comment being sort of a compliment better attract his attention. ”They bring me peace, amidst the situation I’m in, that is, being Tarben’s prisoner.” A nervous laugh left her maw, her eyes moving to the side before attempting to return to meet his amber eyes once again. ”You coming back safely…albeit a bit injured, which I apologize on my mother’s behalf, brought me to tremendous ease.” The pull from her chest was strong, as her desire to move closer eventually became acted upon. She would attempt to shuffle towards Wendigo, fold her dragonfly wings in, and bury her maw into his uninjured shoulder and side. ”Thank you…” she started, tears starting to form once again, but this time tears of joy. Her feelings, which she so desperately needed to untangle and understand, were completely unraveled by her guardian. And, perhaps the line that connected the two of them, which felt slightly warmer upon her moving closer. ”You’ve been so kind to me since I was brought here. I’ve learned some of your mannerisms, and I can tell emotions in your eyes, despite your stoic nature. I’d love to go back home…but…” She sighed, her final words a whisper, but also sing-song as heat rose to her cheeks that he would surely feel. “But I…can’t…help, falling in love…with…you.” Actions & Words.
