Forgiveness, Repentance, and Consequences all go together
|
Yes, God forgives when one repents. But what does repentance mean? Repentance doesn't mean feeling bad, or feeling sad. It literally means turning around. Forgiveness only happens when there is the intent for real change. We as people don't know whether a person has changed, but God looks on the heart. And then there are consequences. There are always consequences for sin, even though there is forgiveness. Just because one is forgiven, it doesn't mean that everything goes back to way it was before. It is that way with God just as it is that way with people. A person may forgive someone, but that doesn't mean that they will associate with them, or even like that person. There will always be consequences. Will God continue to forgive? As far as I know, yes, as long as there is genuine repentance. However, if a person continues to do the same thing over and over, and even very shortly after asking for forgiveness, have they really repented? Only God knows their heart.

- 7 X 70 = 490. The point is imo there is no limit if one is truly repentant.
