This class is clumpy to me. I don't love any of the tackles as a top 10 or 15 pick, but I think there are a bunch of 2nd tier ones that either have a ton of developmental promise or could be, at minimum, a really good guard.

And because I don't want to be arbiter of guard vs. tackle, I'm going to go by how Dane Brugler has them classified.

This group should all be top 40 picks:

*Spencer Fano Utah 6'5" 311#
Played RT the last two seasons. Unanimous All-American. Really good athlete. Fiesty AF. Really good hand fighter. Has T-rex arms. Will Campbell-esque (though significantly more athletic than Campbell). A little on the light side. Got his lunch eaten by speed rushers (David Bailey in particular at TT). He reminds me so much of Alijah Vera Tucker when he was coming out of USC. Almost identical size, arm length, and athleticism. Like AVT, I think Fano can be serviceable at tackle, but an excellent, all-pro potential guard.

*Francis Mauigoa TheU 6'6" 327#
A damn warrior. Had to earn it every practice going against Rueben Bain and Akheem Mesidor. Good strength. Just ok on agility. Again, shorter arms than you'd like. Barely at the 33" threshold. I do think he's more of a tackle (purely RT) than Fano but I could see some teams having him as a guard as well. Hard for me to put him to the Cardinals at 3.

*Monroe Freeling UGA 6'7" (stop it) 315#
OK, an actual left tackle. Long arms (almost 35"), wingspan 4" greater than Mauigoa. Great athlete, 4.93 40 and 33.5" vertical. Mirrors well vs. speed rushers with the grip strength to counter hand fighting. Big paws on a puppy. Green as hell. Needs coaching. Sets too high. Settles on his heels too much. He lets rushers inside too easily. Needs a couple years of a pro weight room. The ones that like him will hope he's Kolton Miller. I think he gets over drafted because he's got massive upside.

*Kadyn Proctor Bama 6'7" (stop it) 352#
If you watch him early in the season, he looked slow and sloppy. He was reportedly up to about 380#. His coaches got him to buckle down, and he dropped a ton of weight by the end of the year, and it showed. Playing at around 350#, he's got rare agility, so much so that he played some fullback at Bama in goal line sets. He started at Bama as a true freshman. Has all the physical traits you want and is still only 20, but, like Freeling, has a long way to go to learn the position. Too often on his heels. Gets fooled by stunts too often. Doesn't use his leverage well. Only adequate arm length. With a pro diet and weight room and a good OL coach, has the upside you'd want, but has the downside of Mekhi Becton.

*Caleb Lomu Utah 6'6" 310#
The second Utah tackle. I'm higher on him than most. I don't get why he's getting mocked almost a full round later than Freeling. He's also a great athlete and I think he's smarter and better technically than Freeling. His big knock is that he's going to need time in a pro weight room to add anchor strength. Like Fano, he got waxed by David Bailey at TT, but I love his upside.

*Blake Miller Clemson 6'7" (stop it) 317#
4-year starter at Clemson. Prototypical RT size and strength. I think he's got a really high floor as a Ron Popeil set-it-and-forget-it RT in the pros. Again, gets too upright, but pro coaching will help. Not a sexy choice. Probably never all all-pro but would be a solid double as a late first/early 2nd round pick.

*Max Iheanachor ASU 6'6" 321#
Born in Nigeria. Only started playing football 4 years ago when he went to his JUCO and his AAU basketball coach suggested it. Great athlete, long arms. Looked great senior bowl week, but all upside at this point. Raw doesn't even describe it.


Day 2-3 types:
*Markel Bell TheU 6'9" (nice) 346#
36 & 3/8" arms. That's insanely long. Moves ok for being as huge as he is. If he gets his hands on you, you're done. Got famously blown up by a Derrick Moore from Michigan bullrush during Senior Bowl week practice. He's 6'9", he occasionally plays too high, but I like him. He's like a more athletic Dawand Jones.

*Caleb Tiernan Northwestern 6'8" 323#
Really short arms (32 & 1/4") for his height and I think he's too tall to really stick at guard. He's well coached and plays with good technique, but arm length and below average athleticism means the ceiling is capped with him. I think he's a solid swing tackle in the pros.

*Jude Bowry BC 6'5" 314#
If I'm betting on a day 3 guy to break out, it's Bowry. Left tackle length and athleticism (former "Freaks List" player) but has frankly kind of sucked as a blocker. I think a couple of years in a good system, and he could be a solid starting tackle.

*Dametrious Crownover aTm 6'7" 319#
Another crazy arm length guy (35 & 3/4") with a TE background, meaning he's a really good athlete for his size. Also, very unrefined as a blocker and penalized wayyy too much (11 times) last year. Will be 25 in September, so he's 3 years older than Bowry.

Lastly, I'll finish with OUR GUY
*JC Davis I-L-L 6'4" 322#
Long arms (34 & 5/8"), plays with great strength and likes to bully defenders. Gets overwhelmed by speed and hand usage is all over the place. Would be best served to kick inside to guard where I think he could be a solid 5+ year starter.
