In the gray, wolf-filled, silent forest, there was a crackle, a pop, and a tinkling sound,, before an old oak tree shuddered and its trunk split open. A beautiful young wolf, already having reached adulthood, tumbled from the tree. She yelped as she hit the earth.
Laika groaned. God help me. Where am I? she asked out loud. Looking around, she winced. Um. Hi? she tried. Laika hadn't realized there were other wolves. She struggled up. It was a bit too bright for her liking. Curse my vampirism! Stupid mother. I already have her bloodlust. Now I can't go out in full sunlight?! She grimaced as wolves stared. Then Laika saw one wolf who made her gasp in amazement, and stare.
