The brother and sister, children of Lucaya, the current alphess of Hawthorne, were scouting out the borders of Hawthorne like their mother had assigned them to do. Lahmer had taken after their father with her pelt colors; browns, tans, blacks, and whites covered her body, and her tail appearing as if it had been dipped in ink, while her eyes matched that of her mother’s and grandfather’s – a bright crimson. Kodlak, however, was primarily black, with his tail dipped in the crimson/auburn hue that he inherited from their grandmother, while he had the amber eyes of their father. Although still young, they were meant to be feared as they had the vampiric blood in them, despite not receiving the actual mutation yet. They had hoped to soon, and honestly were surprised that their mother did not do it sooner. But as they approached the border closer to Ashen Woodlands, the sound of a BOOM rang through both of their ears, and without hesitation, both of the pups looked at each other, smiled devilishly, and bounded their way towards the source.

It did not take them long to reach the source – the two had a lot of experience hunting in this area with their mother, so they knew the charred lands as if it were a second home to them. It practically was, after all. Once they caught sight of the comet and the wolves surrounding it, they froze, looking at each other once again. Kodlak whispered to his sister, ”Take it easy. We’re going to walk up slowly and not cause a scene, or else I will wring your neck.” Lahmer huffed, but did not backtalk, as she knew he could entirely pin her down. He was more stocky than she was, but she soon would develop muscle and speed while maintaining her slim figure. The two slowly approached, watching as wolves surrounding this comet appeared to be changing? Both of their tails began to wag as the same thoughts crossed their minds. They continued to approach to a distance to where other wolves were being affected, and both waited patiently.
