The girl of storms looked to her soulmate. Her heart was aching, knowing that Kodlak was probably right-Lähmer and Aethelflaed both, they were peace pawns. She dipped her head.
“Hate to sort of break the moment, but that blood loss is making me dizzy. Mind if we find somewhere to shelter for now so that I can address my wound but also continue being with you?” Leona perked up. “Oh, no! No problem. Let’s go.” She led Kodlak over to a grove of trees, settling down. “Here? It looks sheltered..” She looked with concern at the bleeding stump. It was bad, if Leona knew anything. She didn’t like the amount of blood that she was seeing.
Her thoughts turned to her father as she spaced out. In the blink of an eye, the sight of blood had Leona’s thoughts whirring to the only time she’d seen a fellow pack member shot by humans-the man had barely survived. There had been blood everywhere. He had lost a front and a back leg. He never walked again. She spaced out for an indeterminable amount of time, thoughts hovering between memories and nothing at all.
“No there’s nothing that I wouldn’t do; to make you feel my love.”
